Things I miss
I really miss the postings from Clare on the Farmgirl Chatroom. She was a WEALTH of information and an excellent moderator. I also miss Meadowlark. She really helped me through some tough times. These two women are among the ladies I have the pleasure of knowing through the chatroom. The alumni don't post very often and I miss that. I hope the "originals" find their way to my site and keep me posted on their lives.
You all rock!
You all rock!
Remember
It may take you two minutes to read this, but if you do not take the time to read this you are one of the people this post is talking about.
You stay up for 16 hours
He stays up for days on end.
____________________________________________________
You take a warm shower to help you wake up.
He goes days or weeks without running water.
____________________________________________________
You complain of a "headache", and call in sick.
He gets shot at as others are hit, and keeps moving forward.
____________________________________________________
You put on your anti war/don't support the troops shirt, and go meet up with your friends.
He still fights for your right to wear that shirt.
____________________________________________________
You make sure you're cell phone is in your pocket.
He clutches the cross hanging on his chain next to his dog tags.
____________________________________________________
You talk trash about your "buddies" that aren't with you.
He knows he may not see some of his buddies again.
____________________________________________________
You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls.
He patrols the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists.
____________________________________________________
You complain about how hot it is.
He wears his heavy gear, not daring to take off his helmet to wipe his brow.
____________________________________________________
You go out to lunch, and complain because the restaurant got your order wrong.
He doesn't get to eat today.
____________________________________________________
Your maid makes your bed and washes your clothes.
He wears the same things for weeks, but makes sure his weapons are clean.
____________________________________________________
You go to the mall and get your hair redone.
He doesn't have time to brush his teeth today.
____________________________________________________
You're angry because your class ran 5 minutes over.
He's told he will be held over an extra 2 months.
____________________________________________________
You call your girlfriend and set a date for tonight.
He waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home.
____________________________________________________
You hug and kiss your girlfriend, like you do everyday.
He holds his letter close and smells his love's perfume.
____________________________________________________
You roll your eyes as a baby cries.
He gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they'll ever meet.
____________________________________________________
You criticize your government, and say that war never solves anything.
He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own people and remembers why he is fighting.
____________________________________________________
You hear the jokes about the war, and make fun of men like him.
He hears the gunfire, bombs and screams of the wounded.
____________________________________________________
You see only what the media wants you to see.
He sees the broken bodies lying around him.
____________________________________________________
You are asked to go to the store by your parents. You don't.
He does exactly what he is told even if it puts his life in danger.
____________________________________________________
You stay at home and watch TV.
He takes whatever time he is given to call, write home, sleep, and eat.
____________________________________________________
You crawl into your soft bed, with down pillows, and get comfortable.
He tries to sleep but gets woken by mortars and helicopters all night long.
____________________________________________________
If you support your troops, re-post this with "WE MISS YOU"
If you don't support your troops well, then don't re-post, it's not like you know the men and women that are dying to preserve your right.

Disappointment reigns
at one of my favorite chat rooms. *sigh* I am appalled at the comments listed and the unfairness of it all. Too many of my friends have been hurt.

Who am I?
Your Score: Carole Lombard
You scored 11% grit, 19% wit, 42% flair, and 33% class!

You have a good sense of humor, are game for almost anything, but you like to have nice things about you and are attracted to the high life. You're stylish and modern, but you've got a few rough edges that keep you from attaining true sophistication. Your leading men include William Powell, Fredric March, and Clark Gable. Shoot me now
Crist, I don't know what's wrong with me. Other than it is moon time. I guess I'll blame it on that. I gotup this morning to get ready for work, tossed my unmentionables into the sink, pulled up the plug and started running water into the sink. Then I started the shower, then I got in, then 10 minutes later I got out to a flooded bathroom. Thank god we live on the first floor. I used every friggin' towel we have to mop up the water. One of the drawers was TOTALLY filled with water. *sigh* I needed to go through that and purge all the old cosmetics anyway.
Needless to say I will be doing laundry all day (and taking a vacation day).

Oehlert Rentals, Sycamore IL
YAY to Oehlert Rentals, the complex I live in. They are having a drive for much needed items for the folks in Mississippi affected by Katrina. I thought it was Kansas, my error. :(
Kansas
I am excited! Our apartment complex is having a "Fill the Trailer" drive today, to help those in Greenburg, who suffered from the recent tornado wiping out their beloved town. YAY! For my landlord!!!!

So
After reading AfricanKelli's post on food stamps and reading up on Raw Foodies, I have decided to TRY and do 2 things. Eat more like a vegetarian. On most days. I am not promising anything. Help is appreciated here. Please.
I got an awesome vegetarian cook book yesterday at BnNoble's for 9 bucks. Quite simply called "Vegetarian: Over 300 healthy and wholesome recipes chosen from around the world"
The other task at hand (besides printing my wedding invites today) is to eat the food we have in the cabinets. Trying not to go to the grocery unless necessary. WTF! I have stuff in there older than the dog! (She's 5 btw). Waste (waist) Not, Want Not.
Wish me luck!
Oh, and by the way, Happy Mother's Day to everyone!

New faces
I discovered a new blog I LOVE. Africankelli. She is a beautiful interesting young woman, whose job takes her to exotic locals, like Africa. It's been fun perusing her older blog posts and seeing the joyful faces of young african children.
And from her blog, is another interesting woman, Jessica, of somethingjessica. She too has a job which takes her to another country, Brazil.
I have added them to my favorites. They are totally worth a look!

"I think the best thing now for out of state Americans is to call the American Red Cross at 1-800-REDCROSS. The KAKE NEWS.COM has Kansas state sources for donations and drop off points. AS more information and links on ways to send donations of moneys and goods such as clothing, toys, household items, food, medical ect comes in I will post them here for out of staters."
