Sunday

Such a deary Sunday. Way north many towns received 5+ inches of snow. Close to work received an inch. We received rain. Sigh. I miss snow. After living 7 years in Texas, I want to see a nice snowfall!!!! For some reason I have been in a super major crafting mood. I learned to knit over Christmas and I just want to craft, craft, craft. I am finishing up a new cross stitch project. I need to bind off my knitted scarf and and weave in the ends and middle. I started a new knitted something. Probably a scarf since that's all I know how to knot right now. lol! Some where I have another cross stitch to finish, a quilt, and several needle point projects to work on. I must learn to knit socks. Do you watch podcasts? I have really been enjoying Yarnings and A Homespun House. Both fun to watch. Mostly knitting podcasts but they talk about other things. I am caught up on my Downton Abby, Alaskan Bush, and King of the Nerds. I am all set to settle in for a couple of cups of tea and knitting tonight while watching Downton and the hubster watches the Superbowl. I am now in Instagram! Yay! @chevy49girl same as my Twitter. Why chevy49girl? Someday, I hope to have a vintage Chevy! Off to have some hot cocoa....

Long time no post!

A lot has happened, wow! In September we moved to a very small town in Kansas. It's about 30 miles south of Olathe, which is where I work. We made the move to be closer to home and my supervisor at the time, offered the option. I'm still in the same position just working out of a different location. It was a great move as in the same month my mother was diagnosed with Dementia. It's been a rough ride. A lot of uncertainty and accusations towards my stepfather on my mother's part. Things have settled down and I think the medication is helping. My step dad says she in and out, mostly in. We made decisions that I am sure my family is not fond of, but it is their life. We love out new town and our new house. We bought a 1920's bungalow. It is adorable!! As soon as I get things straighten up I'll post photos. We still have a ton of stuff in the garage but that's OK. We are just happy to be out of Texas and back in the Midwest!!! Although the lack of snow so far is quite disappointing! And why is Bloglovin' not recognizing my blog????

Manhattan, The Women Girls of Atomic City, and Kansas

Yes I am a horrible blogger now a days. I am almost finished with The Girls of Atomic City. I had put it down for awhile but picked it up again with recent advent of the show Manhattan. LOVE IT! While both book and show are not in the same geographical location they are both about the Manhattan Project. And totally fascinating. We re moving to Kansas and we are soooooo excited! Texas is NOT the place for us. Plus, we will be that much closer to family in Indiana. PLease send us good vibes that the purchase of our 1920's bungelow goes through!!! I'll be curles up in front of the TV this evening though, The Thin Man will be showing!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter/Oestara everyone!! I have been busy sorting through these letters from WW II. It is correspondence between a husband and wife. The years so far encompass 1943-1944, a birth of their child and a lot of letters! Often they wrote each other several times a day. Most letters ended with XXXXXXXXXX's, S.W.A.K., cute "I love you's" on the inside flap of the envelope, and lipstick kisses from the wife. Now.,if I can determine the color!!! I want to do some research on this couple. Several letters were sent to Bertie via J.A. Kirven Department Store in Columbus, Georgia, C/O Luncheonette. Should this be turned into some sort of book? Oooh, not sure if I have what it takes....... I hope everyone has had a wonderful Easter, Passover, and/or Oestara depending on your affiliation. Hugs

Project

For my birthday last month I received a check from my parents. I immediately went to Bella Rosa Antiques to get something I had been eyeing for months.
As I get them sorted in order and such, I will start to post about these letters from WWII.

A Day That Will Live In Infamy

A day late but the feeling is still the same. Sorry for the lack of posts. WE left for Florida on the 21st to spend Thanksgiving with my dad and stepmother, and didn't get home until the 30th. Now my mom and step dad are here! It's been a whirlwind! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
